About Mary Beth Garber

MBGarber Audiobook Narrator

Quick study, quick turnaround. Excellent at taking direction. Home studio. Thorough. Reliable.

Recorded my first 6 audiobooks at Deyan Audio, 14 more at my home studio, all available on Audible, or on Learning Ally.  Narrated for Tantor, Deyan, and 4 small publishers. Love mysteries, but my range will surprise you.  Thrive on becoming other people in difficult situations.  I have cried as a character in every book, even – maybe especially – the memoirs.

  • I had a long career speaking for a living in the media world.  As a top seller, multi-award winner, I created stories to make ideas make sense and sound appealing.

  • Did a decade as an Instructor at UCLA Extension, know how to make factual stuff sound interesting and compelling.

  • An Army brat, lived in 9 countries on 3 continents by the age of 9 and developed an ear for many accents and speech patterns.

  • Really know jargon from medical, higher education, media, governmental committees, and non-profit worlds. And I can bring to life the myriad personalities and drives that come with them.

  • Mom, widow, grandmother, dog lover, cat admirer.

Moved to the Los Angeles area for college and stayed.  Hung out in Malibu for 20 years trying to avoid facing LA traffic (fooling myself), and recently moved to Carlsbad, CA where I built a house with a recording studio.  The ocean is just as beautiful—and far more peaceful—here.
